Nutrition review: Eload

So you’ve probably heard me raving a bit about Eload nutrition. I actually started out my triathlon racing with Eload in 2006 and was incredibly excited to add them this year as my nutrition sponsor! I’m super stoked that West Point Multisport is now carrying some of their stuff too. Let me give you the lowdown on how I use their products.

My early season Eload line-up!

West Point Multisport Lecture Series: Free Treats and Shwag!

Got your attention? I know I’ll do pretty much anything for a free cookie ;)

Fellow Team Ossenbrink member Andrew Powell and I are holding a lecture series the 3rd Tues of every month from April til August at West Point Multisport (3780 West 10th Ave, just west of Alma) in Vancouver. It’s going to be super fun and super casual! Great for beginner to advanced triathletes alike. Our first discussion is this upcoming Tuesday April 24th, 7-8pm: “How to survive your first triathlon. Ask the pros!”

Only one rule: there’s no such think as a dumb question!

Wetsuit review: TYR Freak of Nature

Happy birthday to me! Birthday came early this year with a package from TYR last month. What did it include? As you may have seen from the Facebook-land a while back, I was lucky enough to receive a magical metal case holding one of the most talked about wetsuits of all time – the TYR Freak of Nature. Since then I’ve had the opportunity to train and race in this suit. I wanted to share with you what I think.

Mid-San Diego Training Camp Update

Greetings from sunny San Diego! Just a little mid-training camp update for y’all.

After my whirlwind trip to Abu Dhabi, I jetted down as planned to southern California for a month’s worth of warm weather training, leading up to Ironman 70.3 California. I’ve put in some serious hours of focused work down here. Although it’s tempting to go explore and socialize, I’m really down here to train and have accomplished a lot as I have the ability to channel my energies into my job. I really feel so privileged to be down here. I am very thankful for my two wonderful, generous friends Jabus and Dilara who are putting me up all month! Continue reading

ABU DHABI INTERNATIONAL TRIATHLON RACE REPORT

What an incredible opportunity to travel to the United Arab Emirates and race one of the most challenging triathlons yet, the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon. I feel so privileged to have spent a few days in Abu Dhabi: experiencing a bit of the city, competing in this amazing race and making some new friends. The race organization was superb, and I would love to be back next year to battle it out on this course! Continue reading

Ironman 70.3 Miami

Since arriving back in Vancouver after the 70.3 World Champs in Vegas, I continued to ride my post-race high with probably my most solid training block of the year. I was feeling super strong and fit. Mid-October I was amazed at how full of beans I still felt heading into what is usually a much anticipated rest week. I was ready for Coach Bjoern to keep piling it on! A test run at the Diva 10k showed my running form was much improved from last year (see my race report).

With my SpeedConcept packed for flying (by my wonderful friends at West Point Multisport. I know, I feel like such a princess sometimes having them pack my bike for me, but they do such a good job, and I trust them with my precious steed!), I flew on the red-eye to Miami. I always curse myself after the fact for flying through the night, but never learn my lesson. As tired as I may be, I have a really hard time sleeping on planes and always end up losing an entire night’s sleep. I had a few hours to caffeinate myself at the Miami airport Thursday morning while waiting for Jill, my best friend/manager, to arrive from Toronto. She had worked her magic and gotten us some amazing accommodation for our stay, starting out at the Intercontinental Hotel located across the street from the race site. (Post-race we were to move to Miami Beach for some Halloween party-time and to soak up some rays in our bikinis, but I’ll get to that later ;) )
